Created for the Israel Museum’s 60th anniversary, Discover the Collections is a permanent AI-powered experience that transforms how visitors explore one of the world’s largest museum collections.

Installed at the museum’s main entrance, the platform invites visitors to discover thousands of objects through an intuitive visual interface available in Hebrew, Arabic, and English. Moving beyond traditional search, it reveals unexpected connections between artworks and artifacts from across the museum’s collection.

TEMA Creative designed, developed, and deployed the complete platform, bringing artificial intelligence, collection management, and visitor engagement together within one scalable digital experience.

The Digital Experiences

At the heart of Discover the Collections is an AI collection-intelligence engine that analyzes both object images and curator-approved content. Using advanced vision and language models, it enriches existing collection data with visual, conceptual, and contextual relationships.

Visitors can explore objects through themes, styles, materials, moods, historical contexts, and other connections that emerge across the collection—opening new and unexpected pathways to discovery.

An intuitive touchscreen experience makes this complex knowledge accessible at the museum’s entrance, encouraging visitors to explore the breadth of the collection and shape their own journey through the galleries.

A comprehensive curatorial management system gives museum staff control over AI-generated content, metadata, taxonomies, and the visitor-facing experience. Together, these capabilities create a living knowledge layer that can continue to reveal new stories within the collection.
